Accurx Scribe in the Accurx app lets you dictate consultations straight from your mobile. It’s a handy way to capture your notes if you don't have a microphone on your desktop. Here's how to get set up and start using it.

Step 1: Download the app

Click the microphone icon in your Accurx toolbar on your computer. This will bring up a QR code if we detect that you don't have a microphone connected to your computer.

Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code.

If you're using an iPhone, you'll be taken to the App Store, or to the Play Store if you're on an Android, to download the Accurx app.

Step 2: Log in and verify your mobile number

Once the app’s installed, open it and log in with your Accurx account details.

You’ll be asked to verify your mobile number. This keeps patient data secure and confirms your identity. A verification code will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Accurx account.

Step 3: Start your consultation using Scribe

From the app homepage, tap Scribe to begin.

Start your consultation and speak as you normally would. When you're finished, tap Create note. This will generate your consultation note in the app.

If you want to make any edits or add anything, tap Add or adjust. You can use your voice to update the note.

You can also tap the pancake stack icon to view your previous consultations, including the one you just Scribed.

Step 4: Sync and save to the patient record

Once you’re happy with the Scribe, go back to your computer.

Close and reopen the Scribe window by clicking the X, then click the microphone icon again to reopen it. Your latest Scribe should appear automatically in the panel on the left.

Open the patient’s medical record in EMIS or SystmOne.

Click Save to record.

You’ll be shown the patient’s name and age so you can double-check you're saving the consultation to the right record. When you're ready, click Save to record.

You’ll see a message confirming it’s been saved successfully. The consultation will now appear in the patient’s medical record 👇

⚠️ Please review all notes and letters that you generate before saving them to record or copying them elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save a Scribe to the record more than once?

Yes, you can. Just click the microphone icon in the toolbar to reopen the Scribe and you'll see the option to save it again.

Do I need to keep the app open while I'm speaking?

Yes, the app needs to stay open while you're using Scribe. If you switch apps or lock your phone during a consultation, the transcribing will stop.

Can I edit a Scribe on my computer?

Not at the moment. All edits need to be made in the Accurx app before you sync it with your desktop.

Can I use Scribe if I don't have signal or Wi-Fi?

You’ll need an internet connection to log in and sync your notes. If you lose connection during a consultation, the Scribe may not save correctly.

What if the Scribe doesn't appear when I go back to my computer?

Try closing and reopening the Scribe window by clicking the microphone icon again. If it still doesn’t appear, check that your app is up to date and that you’ve got a stable internet connection on both devices.

Is the Scribe saved anywhere else apart from the medical record?

The Scribe is stored securely in the Scribe section of both the Accurx app and the Accurx Scribe Desktop, but it’s only considered complete once you’ve saved it to the patient’s medical record. Always check that you’ve clicked Save to record before finishing up as unsaved Scribes are only stored for 30 days.
