Accurx Scribe: An Overview

This article gives you an overview of Accurx Scribe

What does Accurx Scribe do?

Accurx Scribe, powered by Tandem, uses AI to transcribe audio from a patient consultation, dictation, or meeting and summarise it into a structured form for medical notes. Clinicians can also generate other documents from the encounter, such as patient letters or referral letters.

After reviewing and editing these, clinicians can save their notes to the patient record and share documents with patients and other services.

Accurx Scribe should not be used to influence the assessment, diagnosis or management plan of a patient.

Accurx Scribe is available via Accurx Desktop, Accurx Web and Accurx Mobile.

Does Accurx Scribe save to the medical record?

Yes, for those using EMIS and SystmOne with Accurx Desktop. Once you’ve reviewed and edited your Scribe summary, you can save it to the patient’s record. If your note includes certain key observations (e.g. height, weight, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, temperature and peak expiratory flow rate), these are saved to the record as SNOMED codes.

For full details, see our article here. You can always edit your note and add/edit coding in EMIS and SystmOne after saving to the record.

How much does it cost?

GP practices enabled for Accurx Scribe can access a free trial if you have not already activated it. The trial will start from the date that you activate Accurx Scribe. Pricing for after the trial phase will scale based on patient list size. Contact our Partnerships team via partnerships@accurx.com to obtain a quote for your practice.

If you work in secondary care, community care, or any other part of the NHS, and are interested in signing up to Accurx Scribe, contact our Partnerships team via partnerships@accurx.com.

Can Accurx Scribe make mistakes?

Accurx Scribe is powered by Tandem's AI. Whilst it's highly accurate, it can make mistakes, such as missing out important information (omissions) and confabulating incorrect information (hallucinations).

For more information, see this article on clinical safety.

It is essential that the clinician reviews all of their Accurx Scribe outputs before they are added to the medical record or shared with patients and other services.

⚠️ Reporting issues: We are constantly improving Scribe and value your feedback. If you notice any hallucinations/omissions, please let our support team know via the live chat button (bottom right of your Scribe window). Reporting these helps our team review the output and continue improving the tool's accuracy.

  • Hallucinations: Any false or misleading information that was added.

  • Omissions: Any relevant clinical information that was missed.
