What is Webview2, and why is it needed for the Unified Inbox?
WebView2 allows app developers to embed web content (such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS) in Windows applications. This technology has been used to build the new Unified Inbox, which is quicker and more user-friendly.
Error message:
If you see an error that says "You need to install Microsoft Webview2 to continue using the inbox", you will need to follow the steps below 👇 If you see error messages such as 'There may be an issue with your Microsoft WebView2 installation' or 'Installation failed: Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime already installed for the system', these indicate potential issues with the WebView2 setup.
Steps to update WebView2
Download the Evergreen Bootstrapper from here:
Don't run it directly from their browser downloads.
Find the file in your downloads folder and run it as Administrator (otherwise it will fail, saying WebView2 is already installed).
Wait for the installation to complete and restart the computer.
