Accurx Web: How to send a message to a patient

Accurx Web allows you to easily text or email your patients from either your mobile or desktop.

To send an SMS message to a patient:

1. Log into Accurx Web, using your nhs.net or nhs.uk credentials.

2. Click on 'New' button in the top left-hand corner and select 'Message a patient' 👇

3. Search for the patient using NHS number and Date of Birth.

4. You should now be able to see the compose message page 👇

5. Start composing a message to the patient, or choose a pre-written template from the 'Message templates' drop-down. To add an attachment to the message click 'Attach', and you can use the toggle to allow the patient to respond to you with text or up to 5 attachments.

You can use the pen icon on the patient's contact details to change the contact method to email if needed.

When you want to send the message click 'Send'.

Note: Users will no longer receive the copy email they used to receive when sending messages to patients in Accurx Web.

Reasoning behind this change: This email copy was crucial for web messaging in the absence of an inbox. However, now that we have a fully operational web inbox with visibility for all sent messages, the team has determined that there is no longer a necessity to send this email copy to users each time they send a message.

Can I save my message to a patient's record?

After sending the message, you will see the content in the confirmation window like below. 👇

Click on the "Get a copy" button, then paste it directly into the patient's notes! 🎉
