Messaging professionals (formerly Accumail) is a feature within Accurx that allows for secure, two-way communication with other healthcare providers and services. It integrates directly with your clinical system (EMIS or SystmOne) to ensure all patient-related communication is automatically saved to their medical record.

What does it do?

  • Secure Communication: Send emails about a patient to other healthcare professionals securely via @nhs.net.

  • Direct Integration: Attach documents (like referral forms) directly from the patient record.

  • Shared Inbox: All replies arrive in a shared inbox, allowing your team to manage responses together.

  • Automatic Filing: Both sent messages and received responses can be saved to the patient's medical record with a single click.

  • Inbound Messages: Other healthcare professionals can send ad-hoc communications directly to your organisation’s shared inbox.

What can you use it for?

You can use this feature for any professional communication, but it is most commonly used for:

  • Referrals: Sending and chasing referrals with community services or hospitals.

  • Pharmacy Coordination: Contacting local pharmacies (e.g., Pharmacy First referrals).

  • Care Coordination: Communicating with local care homes, consultants, or secretaries.

  • Direct Replies: Responding to inbound queries from other services.

How do I contact the healthcare professional?

Locate the Icon: You can find the feature on your Accurx toolbar by clicking the dropdown arrow next to the message icon and selecting "Message professional".

From there, a "New professional message" window will open, allowing you to contact other healthcare contacts via email.

Tip: Check out our guide on How to Message Professionals for a step-by-step walkthrough.

How do the healthcare professional messages appear in my inbox?

To view your outbound messages and responses, select the inbox icon.

From there, any conversation tagged with "Professional" is a message you sent to another healthcare professional, along with its contents.

You can select the filter option to show only the professional conversations in any inbox folder.

Tip: Check out our guide on Healthcare professional inbound management for a step-by-step walkthrough.

If you don't have access to any of these features, request to speak with a human support agent via our live chat or email support@accurx.com.
