We're Accurx: a software company that organisations and other healthcare providers use to communicate with their patients.

Your healthcare provider may have contacted you for various reasons with a message containing a link so that you can:

  • Book an appointment

  • Complete a questionnaire

  • Access a document

  • Respond to a message

Your unique link will start with https:// accurx.nhs.uk/.... and should look something like this:

https:// accurx.nhs.uk/eXaMpLe

A SMS message sent to a phone which has a web link in it. The patient can open this link to book an appointment.

What is a One-time password (OTP)?

The one-time password (OTP) verification is a 6-digit code. This code will be sent to the same device that the link was originally sent to. When trying to access a link using a new device, if the code is entered correctly, this will become the trusted device.

Why do I need to use an OTP?

2-factor authentication is required for extra security to ensure that the person accessing the link is the intended patient. This is important as opening links and logging into the patient portal gives access to private health-related information.

When would I need to use an OTP?

You will need to use an OTP when opening a link on a different device to which it was originally sent.

How to use OTP to access your link on a second device

Click on your link to open it and then put in your date of birth πŸ‘‡

A web page where a patient will put in their date of birth in order to access the link that has been sent to them by their healthcare professional.

Next, you will be prompted to put in the 6-digit code that is sent to the number the link was originally sent to. πŸ“²

A big blue button which says 'continue with NHS login'

If you didn't receive a code after a few minutes, you can request a new code by selecting the 'Request a new code' option as shown below πŸ‘‡

The verification code message you receive will look similar to this πŸ‘‡

Next, enter the verification code and press 'Submit'.

This device will now be considered the trusted device for this link. If you want to open the link again on a different device, you will have to repeat these steps.

FAQ's

I don't have access to the device the link was originally sent. What should I do?

Instead of using your date of birth to access the link, please click on 'Continue with NHS login'. Using your NHS login verifies your identity and so skips the OTP verification process.πŸ‘‡

If you use your NHS login, the device you are using will become the trusted device.

You can access your conversations by following this link and using your NHS login πŸ‘‰ https://accurx.nhs.uk/
