The Switch app is preparing for exciting new features to come. In the meantime, the following lesser-used features will be removed from the app in May 2024.

The following changes were made on 01/05/2024, following warnings within the app since January 2024.

Documents 📓

Documents are where an admin can add shared documents to the hospital directory. Documents are not used by the majority of Switch users, and we are working on introducing other, more convenient ways to share up-to-date documents across healthcare settings.

What’s changing? The Documents feature will be removed from the Switch app, and you will no longer be able to access previously uploaded documents using this app.

Please save all stored documents outside of the Switch app before 01/05/2024.

Private Numbers and Private Codes 🔏

Private Numbers is where users can currently store contact numbers in a private directory seen only by that user. Private Codes similarly allow users to store any access codes within their own account. The Switch app is now moving towards building open, reliable directories and working to help healthcare teams overcome the challenge of information silos.

What’s changing? The Private Numbers and Private Codes features will be removed from the Switch app, and you will no longer be able to access previously stored numbers or codes using this app.

Please save all stored private numbers and codes outside of the Switch app before 01/05/2024.

TeamSpaces 🏥

TeamSpaces are private workspaces for multiple Switch app users. This feature has not been widely used, and we are working on providing better ways of bringing teams together to collaborate, communicate and share information.

What’s changing? Existing TeamSpaces will be removed from the Switch app, and you will no longer be able to access their information.

Please save any relevant information associated with your TeamSpace outside of the Switch app before 01/05/2024.

Links 🔗

Links are where users can store external links and share these with a hospital or TeamSpace. As TeamSpaces are being replaced and we are working on better ways to facilitate sharing information across healthcare teams, this way of storing Links will no longer work on the Switch app.

What’s changing? Links will be removed from the Switch app.

Please save any stored links outside of the Switch app before 01/05/2024.

We are excited for the next phase of the Switch app which will bring new and improved ways for all NHS professionals to communicate easily and securely.
