At a glance
Accurx has a refreshed look and feel. Corners are softer, the text uses a new typeface called Inter, and colour is used more purposefully, making statuses and alerts easier to spot.
This isn’t a rebrand, and nothing about how Accurx works has changed. You don’t need to do anything.
We’re rolling this out over a few weeks, so you may see some changes before others.
The change rolls out in stages, so you may see some updates before others. This article explains each one.

Why are we making this change?
Accurx is open all day in busy practices and hospitals, so we want it to feel calm and clear. Over time, different parts of Accurx had drifted into slightly different styles. This refresh brings them back to one look, built around a few ideas:
Colour with purpose. Everyday parts of the screen are neutral, so colour is saved for things that need your attention, like statuses, warnings and actions
Calm and focused. Softer shapes, lighter shadows and quieter colours keep the screen uncluttered, so your work stands out rather than the interface around it
Consistent and predictable. Pages for staff and patients share the same styles, so things look and behave the way you expect
Quicker improvements. Styles now come from one shared place, so we can improve things more quickly and reach every part of Accurx at once
This builds on the new icons we introduced earlier this year.
Softer corners
Buttons, text boxes, menus, dialogs and cards have slightly rounder corners. Shadows under menus and dialogs are softer and more neutral.
Why we made this change
Square corners and navy shadows made screens feel dense and heavy. Rounder corners make them calmer and easier to scan, and larger things like cards and dialogs get rounder corners than small things like buttons, so shapes look in proportion. Neutral shadows still lift menus and dialogs above the page, without pulling your eye away from what’s in them.

A new typeface
Text across Accurx now uses ‘Inter’ instead of ‘Roboto’.
Text sizes haven’t changed, but Inter is a little wider, so some labels may grow, wrap onto a new line or be cut off sooner. If something is cut off, try widening the window. If you still can’t read it, tell us where using the chat bubble.
Why we made this change
Inter is designed for screens, so it’s easier to read at small sizes. Characters that look alike, such as I, l and 1 or O and 0, are easier to tell apart, which helps when you’re reading NHS numbers, dates of birth, and other medical information.
Please note: If a label or name looks cut off and you can't read it in full, hover over it or widen your window. If you still can't see the full text, contact us using the chat bubble.
More neutral greys
Text, icons and backgrounds lose their navy tint and use more neutral greys. Selected checkboxes, radio buttons, switches and menu items are now dark grey instead of blue. On tabs, the text of the tab you’re on is no longer blue, and the line underneath shows which tab is selected. They all work the same way.
Why we made this change
Navy hues and bright blue used to be everywhere, on text, icons, backgrounds and anything selected. That made it harder to spot the colour that matters. Keeping everyday parts of the screen neutral means that when something does use colour, like a warning, a confirmation or a button, it stands out and you know it means
something.
Clearer success, warning and error colours
Success, warning, information and error notices and tags use stronger colours, so they’re easier to spot. What each colour means, and the icons and words that go with it, haven’t changed.
Why we made this change
Notices and tags are how Accurx tells you something needs your attention, like a patient who isn’t matched or a message that didn’t send. Colours were pale and easy to miss. Stronger colours make them stand out, especially now the rest of the screen is more neutral.

Why does one page look different from another?
A few areas keep their current look for now: Accubook, Scribe, reporting charts, and the inbox for practices that haven’t moved to the combined inbox yet. Some parts of other pages may keep the old styles for a while, and we’re updating these over time. If something looks out of place, tell us where.
