Why has the GP sent an email from Accurx?

GP practices can now send emails securely to other healthcare professionals via NHSMail from our desktop-based product, Accumail. As Accumail is integrated with the GP clinical system, GP practices can send and receive emails and save the communication directly to the patient record.

Every email sent by the practice includes the patient’s NHS number and a unique identifier, added by Accurx, that allows Accurx to match the communication back to the patient record.

What do I need to do?

Simply hit reply to the original email and respond as normal. By hitting reply the subject line containing the patient’s NHS number and unique identifier is maintained and the email can be matched back to the patient record quickly.

If you have altered the subject line, or have been forwarded an email that does not contain the subject line, we will also be able to match the email correctly if the unique email headers have been maintained.

Is the email address only for the named practice I have received an email from?

The accurx.email4@nhs.net account is a shared inbox. This means all outgoing emails and replies for all practices using email are sent to and from this inbox. This is why it is important to reply to the original email so we can match the communication back to the patient record and correct recipient practice quickly.
