About Accurx Desktop
Accurx Desktop is EMIS and SystmOne accredited software trusted by 90% of UK NHS healthcare organisations.
β
Accurx Desktop SMS allows NHS organisations to text their patients - and also send a link to start a video, fill out a survey, read an attachment, or send a photo/reply back.
Installation Process
Accurx Desktop is deployed as desktop software and a web application. The desktop software needs to be installed on all computers where users will be using the Accurx Desktop service.
Every user will need to have permission to install to:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Accurx
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Accurx Updater
(we self-update so Users will need ongoing permissions here, not just for the first install)
Admin install for all Users will need access to either:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Accurx Updater OR
C:\Program Files\Accurx Updater
(depending on how the Environment variables have been set up for the machine. The usual machine setup will be for the first one)
β
Manual Process
See the How do I install for all users at my organisation? guide. This just talks through a regular installation for an EMIS organisations, where it needs to be installed on each PC.
You can verify Accurx Desktop has been installed correctly by sending an SMS to a dummy patient.
Automated Process
We are working with our customers to support automated install scenarios. We recommend you use the following steps as a reference and adapt them to meet your needs.
Step 1
Download the MSI for the Machine Updater component. This will have the file name Accurx.Updater.Machine.Installer.msi.
Step 2
Automate getting Accurx.Updater.Machine.Installer.msi onto the computer and automate running the following installation command with admin permissions:
msiexec /i accuRx.Updater.Machine.Installer.msi /quiet /qn /l*v "accurx-updater-msi.log"
System Requirements
Microsoft Windows 7 and above
150MB hard drive space
100MB working RAM
.NET 4.6.2 or greater
EMIS Web or SystmOne (for functionality requiring the medical record)
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC (as required for Windows 10)
Display: 800 x 600 (as required for Windows 10)
Network Requirements
Reliable internet connection
Accurx Desktop requires access to the domains accurx.com (including the subdomains web.accurx.com, audit.accurx.com, www.accurx.com, chain.accurx.com, logging.accurx.com and installer.accurx.com), *.service.signalr.net and cdn.polyfill.io for HTTPS (TCP 443).
Video consultations require additional access, see http://support.accurx.com/en/articles/3835352-video-consultations-firewall-configuration for more details.
In terms of traffic to and from the client, we estimate this as being less than 10MB per day for normal operations, and 15MB download for a weekly client update. User actions such as sending/receiving large files or making video calls will result in much higher usage.
Updating and Patching Process
Accurx Desktop includes a built-in update mechanism which keeps the software up to date.
