Accurx Scribe: Upload Context

How to use the Upload Context feature when using Accurx Scribe

Written by Helen

You can now upload files like referral letters, test results, or discharge summaries directly into a Scribe encounter. Scribe will use the content alongside your transcription to produce a more complete and accurate note, so you don't need to re-read or manually re-enter information that already exists in a document.

πŸ“Ž What can you upload?

You can upload:

  • PDFs β€” such as referral letters, clinic letters, or investigation reports

  • Images β€” such as photos of handwritten notes, printed results, scanned documents, or screenshots of your EPR

These are used as additional context when Scribe generates your note. For example, if you upload a referral letter before a consultation, Scribe can incorporate the relevant background without you needing to cover it verbally.

πŸ“Œ How to upload context to a Scribe note

  1. Start a Scribe session as you normally would from Accurx Web, Desktop, or Mobile.

  2. Select the upload option before or after your consultation. You'll see an option to attach files to the session πŸ‘‡

  3. Choose your file from your device. Select the PDF or image you want Scribe to use as context.

  4. Continue your consultation or dictation. Scribe will use the uploaded content alongside the transcription to generate your note.

  5. Review the output. As always, check the generated note before saving to the record or sharing.

πŸ’‘ When to use upload context

Upload context is particularly helpful when:

  • A referral letter includes background you'd otherwise need to re-state during dictation

  • Test results or investigation reports need to be referenced in the note

  • You want to save time by letting Scribe pull in existing information rather than dictating it yourself

πŸ” Show Source: checking where information came from

When Scribe generates a note using uploaded context, you can use the Show Source feature to trace where specific parts of the note came from.

Highlight any text in the generated note and select Show Source. If that information was pulled from an uploaded file, the source will be referenced, so you can verify it against the original document.

This is particularly useful for checking that Scribe has accurately represented details from a referral letter or test result, and gives you confidence in the output.

⚠️ Important notes

  • Always review the output. Scribe uses uploaded files as context to improve the note, but the clinician is responsible for checking the final output before it is added to the medical record or shared with patients and other services.

  • Supported file types: PDFs and common image formats (e.g. PNG, JPEG).
