What to do now

View and reply to professional messages in the @ inbox

Open the Desktop inbox and filter by Professional

Check the Unassigned folder for inbound messages

Use the Start a Referral button, or create a template for messages you send regularly

Why has this changed?

We've moved professional messaging into the main toolbar so that patient messages, professional messages, and your inbox live in one consistent place.

Behind the scenes, the code has been rebuilt to make the feature load faster and enable us to ship improvements more quickly.

You're getting a tidier layout, a faster experience, and some useful new features.

What happens to old Accumail?

The @ icon will stay on the toolbar, but only for viewing your existing Accumail messages. You won't be able to send new messages from it.

Good to know:

  • Your old messages will remain available as read-only

  • If someone replies to an old Accumail message, the reply will appear in your Desktop inbox (not in Accumail).

How to find your professional inbox

Professional messages now arrive in the same inbox as patient messages, with a filter to separate them.

New features in the inbox:

  • Team management: assign professional messages to any team, just like patient messages.

  • Urgent marking: flag professional messages as urgent.

Consistent tools: all the management features you already use for patient messages (reassign, mark as done, etc.) now work for professional messages too.

  • Access the inbox:

  • Filter to professionals:

Care connections

The old Unassigned folder has been renamed to Care Connections. This is where you'll find:

  • Messages from other Accurx users who have contacted you via the "Message GP" feature in Accurx Web (usually about a patient). This inbound can be turned off if needed.

  • Messages from external organisations that have emailed your unique Accumail email address from outside Accurx. This inbound cannot be switched off.

New features in Care Connections:

  • Unmatch patients: if a patient has been matched to a message in error, you can now unmatch and re-match them yourself.

Notification controls: Use the toggle on the folder to manage your notification preferences.
