Dictation is a feature within the Accurx Scribe that allows users to convert dictated speech to text π¬.
This feature works from your Accurx toolbar and is easy to set up!
Please note: This feature is only available for organisations that have access to Accurx Scribe and have accepted the DPA.
How to get set up?
To check if the Dictation feature is enabled:
Click on the Accurx Scribe button on your Accurx toolbar π
Navigate to the Accurx Scribe settings via the settings cog π οΈ
Select the 'External speech-to-text' tab and ensure the 'Enable external speech-to-text' option is set to 'On'.
You're all set to start using the Dictation feature π
How to use Dictation?
To start the Dictation feature, ensure your Accurx toolbar is open and hit the designated key shown under the 'Start speech-to-text' in the settings (This should be F1 by default. On laptops, you may need to hold down the 'Fn' key before pressing the assigned key).
When Dictation is running, you'll see the 'Accurx Dictation' window with a big stop button, along with a prompt indicating how to stop the dictation π You will also see your dictated text appear in the text box.
When Dictation is not running, you won't see the stop button or prompt indicating how to stop the dictation. Instead, you'll see a microphone button which you can select to start/continue the dictation and a prompt indicating how to insert your transcribed text.
Once the dictation is completed, you can use the designated button to transfer the text. You can do this by placing your mouse cursor in the text field where you want to paste the text, and pressing the designated key under 'Transfer text' in the settings (This should be F2 by default. On laptops, you may need to hold down the 'Fn' key before pressing the assigned key).
