Photos in Chain
Chain users can delete a photo once it has been received, so that it is not visible to colleagues viewing the patient’s communication record. However, an audit trail will remain (see below for further information).
You can do this by clicking the delete icon next to a photo you've received into your inbox 👇
Photos in Fleming
Patient photos requested via Fleming are not visible within the platform to any user. After the patient receives the request and sends the image, we pass that to the secure NHS mailbox, and from there the data is handled by the NHS Mail server and your organisation - it has left the accuRx platform.
Deleting from the audit trail
Photos sent using the accuRx platform - in Chain or in Fleming - are protected with the same high security standards we use for all data. We follow NHS Digital Information Governance Standards that require us to keep an audit trail of all data that passes through our communication platform. That includes images. It is possible to delete those images from our audit trail. We understand that patients can withdraw consent for a recording to be stored at any time or clinicians may agree with patients that every copy of those images will be deleted after they have been sent as part of them obtaining consent for recording. This article explains how that information can be removed from our platform entirely.
We only physically (i.e. permanently and completely) delete a photo from the audit trail that we hold in response to:
1. Court orders or other legislative circumstances
2. Receiving a valid physical deletion request in the form of a specifically authenticated and validatd written request from an organisation’s Caldicott Guardian or Privacy Officer, co-signed by a senior clinical representative.
You can send this request to firstname.lastname@example.org. Our Information Governance team will task a senior engineer with securely deleting the image without viewing it. A record of this action and the written request for it are retained in a secure log by accuRx.
Any questions, please chat to us in the bottom right or send us an email to email@example.com 😊
