This article talks about a feature of our accuRx Desktop for EMIS/S1 GP practices.

When using accuRx Desktop, information regarding consent will be presented back to you when you pull up a patient in EMIS/S1 and accuRx Desktop. Here's how it looks 👇 :

Note that you aren't blocked from sending texts to patients that have declined consent. This is intentional so that, for instance, a clinician could send a text whilst in a consultation to their current patient who gives verbal consent.

accuRx Desktop checks for the following codes in the patient medical record in EMIS, to see whether a patient has opted in or out of SMS messages:

Consent given

Consent given for communication by short message service text messaging
SNOMED: 699237001
READ: 9ndP

Consent given to receive test results by short message service text messaging
SNOMED: 911361000000104
READ: 9ndP0

Consent declined

Declined consent for short message service text messaging
SNOMED: 513631000000106
READ: 9ndQ

Declined consent to receive test results by short message service text messaging
SNOMED: 911401000000108
READ: 9ndQ0

In SystmOne, accuRx Desktop checks SMS consent status in the "Patients Details" as shown in the image below.

(Note: consent SNOMED/READ codes are not checked by accuRx Desktop in SystmOne)

You can change SMS consent status for a patient in SystmOne by following the steps shown in the image below:
