How Scribe sessions are counted

To get the most out of Accurx Scribe, it is important to finish and create your notes once a consultation is complete.

A session counts towards your daily usage if it meets any of the following criteria:

  • It is "Open": Any Scribe that hasn’t been finalised (this includes sessions currently recording, those left abandoned, or those left in a Paused state).

  • It is in Dictation Mode: Using Scribe to dictate notes directly.

  • It is a full consultation: Any recording that lasts longer than 120 seconds (2 minutes).

Best practice for managing sessions

1. Testing Scribe

If you are testing Scribe to familiarise yourself with the tool, we recommend keeping your test recordings brief.

  • Keep it short: Aim for under 2 minutes for a test.

  • End the session: Always click "Finish and create note" to end the test session properly πŸ‘‡

2. Handling back-to-back consultations

It’s common to pause a Scribe session if you are interrupted or moving between tasks.

  • Update paused scribes: Before starting a new patient encounter, check if you have a previous session still in a "Paused" state.

  • Finalise promptly: Ensure you click Finish and create note as soon as the consultation ends. This prevents you from having multiple "Paused" sessions as each Paused session will count towards your Scribe limit.

3. Using Dictation Mode

When using Scribe for direct dictation, the session remains active until you manually stop the recording.

  • Press Stop: Always ensure you press the red stop button to conclude your dictation.

Summary

To keep your Scribe workflow running smoothly:

  • Always click Finish and create note once the consultation is over.

  • Avoid leaving Scribe sessions in a paused state.

  • Keep test recordings under 2 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does a paused recording still count towards my usage?

Yes. Because a paused recording is considered an "ongoing" session that hasn't been finalised, it remains active in the system. To prevent this, always hit "Finish and create note" once the patient encounter is actually over.

I accidentally left Scribe running during my lunch break. What should I do?

If a session is left running or paused, it will count as an active session. Simply go back to that session and click Finish and create note (or delete it if it was a mistake) to close the loop.

If I record for only 30 seconds but click "Finish and create note," does it count?

No. If the recording is under 120 seconds and you have clicked Finish and create note, it will not count towards your daily usage. This allows you to do quick tests or practice sessions.

Does using Scribe just for dictation count?

Yes. Dictation mode is treated as an active session regardless of the length of time, as the Scribe is actively processing your speech.

What if I have multiple tabs open with Scribe?

Each session that is either recording, paused, or in dictation mode counts individually. We recommend keeping only one active Scribe session open at a time to keep your dashboard and usage clear.
