Patient Triage in Secondary Care: Navigating the Settings Page

A guide of how to use the Patient Triage settings for users in Secondary Care.

If you are a primary care organisation that uses Patient Triage, see this article instead. πŸ‘ˆ

What is Patient Triage?

A simple online request form that replaces busy phone lines and email inboxes. Patients submit structured information, and your team receives requests in an organised queue, allowing you to triage, prioritise, and respond safely and efficiently.

The Settings

Only Accurx users with 'Admin' status can customise Patient Triage settings.

Use the Patient Triage settings page to set the forms' opening times, daily form submission limits, suspend forms and customise some of the patient-facing messaging.

To open the settings page, click your workspace's name in the top-right corner, then Settings. πŸ‘‡

On the left side bar click Patient Triage < Settings πŸ‘‡

Form availability

  • Set opening hours for your medical and admin forms

Note: each custom Patient Triage form will be categorised as either an admin or medical form, depending on the forms content. It isn't possible to set opening times for specific forms, only the entire category.

Limits

If useful, you can limit the number of requests that can be submitted each day.

  • Decide which types of requests you want to count toward the limit: medical, admin, or both.

Temporary suspend Patient Triage Requests

The temporary suspend option can be used to suspend your Patient Triage forms for up to 4 days.

There are a few options when using the Temporary Suspend feature πŸ‘‡

  • Disable both medical and admin requests

  • Disable medical requests only. Patients will still be able to submit admin requests.

  • There is no feature to temporarily disable admin requests alone.

To suspend medical requests only and allow patients to submit admin queries, ensure the 'Suspend medical request access only' box is ticked πŸ‘‡

Settings set during suspension override the out-of-hours settings.

Custom Messaging

You can easily customise key patient-facing messages that sit around the form experience. πŸ‘‡

The sections that can be customised are πŸ‘‡

  • Forms available message (shown when both your medical and admin forms are available)

Location of welcome message in patient triage flow
  • Form submitted

    • The confirmation message is shown when patients have submitted their request

    • Proxy text message confirmation: the text message patients receive when a proxy submits a request on their behalf.

  • Form unavailable

    • Outside of form hours message (shown when one or both of your admin/medical forms are turned off or outside of the hours you set).

    • Limit reached message
